At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? About the role.

We’re looking for a driven, high-performing Account Manager to join the momentum and help shape the future of farming in the Southland region. This is an opportunity to positively disrupt an industry and pioneer groundbreaking change, working with some of the highest-performing dairy farms in New Zealand. Serving as the primary point-of-contact for Halter customers, you will be passionate about driving farmer success for one of the world’s fastest-growing companies that will transform how they farm to become leaders in productivity and sustainability. You will be backed by a team of exceptional people on the ground in the South Island and at Halter’s Auckland HQ, to ensure this is the best job you’ll ever have.

Location - This role is to be based anywhere in the Northern Southland region. Frequent travel is required as part of the position.

What your day could look like.

• Revenue Retention & Expansion: You will own the retention, renewals and expansion targets of Halter’s existing revenue in the region.

• Ensure farmers are extracting full value from Halter to achieve their goals and ultimately understand the impact it’s having on their farming business.

• Account Management: Responsible for renewing customer agreements and expanding the revenue of existing Halter customers, by adding value in every interaction to drive on-farm goals and performance.

• Deployment: Supporting the onboarding, training and implementation of the Halter system on customers' farms, ensuring all relevant farm owners, managers, and workers are able to successfully use the system.

• Relationship Building: Proactively cultivate genuine and trustworthy relationships with farmers, their teams, and families, fostering strong connections and understanding.

• Farmer Success: Strategically partnering with customers to establish clear business goals, timelines, priorities and metrics of success.

• Problem-Solving: Provide prompt and effective communication and support to farmers and team members, addressing technical or operational challenges with expertise and efficiency.

• Community & Networking: Represent the Halter brand with pride, lead local discussion groups, and proactively build strong networks within the community for increased brand visibility and connections.

• Customer Advocate: Acting as the voice of the customer and bridging the gap with our product teams to provide important context about what is happening on the ground with our farmers and their animals.

• Technical Expertise: Working closely with our product teams to provide technical and practical advice from a farmer’s perspective on everything reproduction, pasture and agronomy.

• Contribute to a positive team environment, supporting others to succeed and role modelling Halter’s Operating Principles.

We’re backing potential over polish. These are the traits that matter most:

• A great human first

• You bring integrity, humility, and care. You do what you say you’ll do. You show up for your farmers and your teammates.

• Lifelong learner mindset

• You’re genuinely curious. You ask questions, seek feedback, and are excited to keep leveling up alongside a world‑class team.

• Hunger and grit

• You love chasing ambitious goals, solving hard problems, and sticking with it when things get tough.

• Positive energy and team spirit

• You lift the people around you, not drain them. You enjoy collaborating, sharing ideas, and celebrating others’ wins as much as your own.

• Comfort in a fast‑moving environment

• You’re at your best when things are dynamic. You can work autonomously, manage your time well, and stay focused on what matters most.

Experience that helps you hit the ground running.

• A background in relationship management, account management, sales, or working closely with customers.

• Experience in dairy or the wider ag sector is a bonus, but not a deal breaker if you bring strong learning agility and a genuine passion for helping farmers succeed.

• A foundation of business acumen and a willingness to deepen it on the job.

• If you’re excited by the idea of working with an exceptional South Island team, spending time on farm with great people, and helping farmers become leaders in productivity and sustainability, we’d love to hear from you.

Who we’re looking for.

• 3-5 years of experience in relationship management/account management roles.

• Experience in dairy farming or within the agriculture sector with a deep passion for helping farmers succeed.

• Strong business acumen.

• Positive attitude and collaborative team player who excels at overcoming challenges.

• The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment with a high degree of autonomy.

• A hunger for success and personal growth, and an eagerness to evolve alongside a world-class team.

Our Benefits

• Healthy body, healthy mind. We’re partnered with Southern Cross Health Insurance to support your well-being.

• We offer 6 months of fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers, 4 weeks of fully paid secondary caregiver leave and many other parental benefits that support you and your family.

• Our time to recharge is valued, we’re offered wellness leave and unlimited paid annual leave.
