
Accountabilities:
The role is responsible for managing moderately complex and occasionally complex homeowner liability and property claims from investigation through resolution. The position requires strong ownership of claim evaluations, negotiations, documentation, and customer communication while ensuring compliance with policies and industry standards. Investigate, analyze, and resolve homeowner, condominium, boat, ATV, and personal liability claims involving third-party property damage. Negotiate and settle claims according to established business practices and claim handling standards. Review estimates, evaluate damages, determine claim values, and coordinate appraisal processes for disputed or complex claims. Determine coverage limits, establish reserves, update claim evaluations, and maintain accurate documentation of decisions and rationale. Act as a primary contact for policyholder attorneys by managing negotiations, responding to information requests, and addressing disputes. Draft and review professional correspondence related to claims, legal requests, and regulatory requirements. Research and resolve customer concerns, conflicts, and escalated claim issues with professionalism and efficiency. Analyze insurance policies, contracts, lease agreements, and condominium documentation to support claim decisions. Maintain detailed claim records, including evaluations, notes, communications, and settlement decisions. Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to reach fair and effective claim outcomes. Manage workload independently while maintaining consistent productivity and service quality in a remote environment. Requirements: The ideal candidate brings strong property claims experience, knowledge of liability assessment, and the ability to manage complex investigations with accuracy and sound judgment. Successful candidates will be comfortable working independently, communicating with multiple stakeholders, and adapting to evolving claim requirements. 3+ years of experience in claims handling, preferably involving property, liability, or homeowner insurance claims. Experience managing or supporting complex claims investigations and resolution processes. Knowledge of insurance policies, coverage interpretation, and liability determination principles. Experience handling homeowner liability, condominium claims, property damage, or related insurance matters. Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate claim information effectively. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in customer and professional phone interactions. Ability to build rapport, gather accurate information, and communicate decisions clearly. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple claims and deadlines. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining productivity and attention to detail. Familiarity with digital tools and platforms used for claims evaluation and documentation. Experience with large-loss claims or litigation-related claim handling is preferred. Ability to obtain required adjuster and/or appraiser licenses within the required timeframe, if applicable.
