Pinwheel makes the first smartphone built for kids. We pair off-the-shelf hardware with our own software so parents can hand their kid a phone without handing them the whole internet. We have sold thousands of units, raised venture capital, and are moving into full growth mode.
This role sits with our CPO. You will work on our apps, device setup, activation flows and the supporting materials around them, taking direction in real time and turning it into design that is ready to build.
What you will work on
Mobile app and web interfaces. Device setup and activation flows. Onboarding, manuals and packaging materials. Polished mockups and prototypes in Figma, shipped fast. Finding the confusing interactions, missing states and edge cases that nobody has looked at yet.
Your first 90 days
Ramp up on the product suite. Take direction from our CPO and turn it into working Figma designs quickly. Ship your first round of implementation-ready mockups or prototypes for at least one flow. Start telling us what could be simpler.
What we are looking for
You pick up complex products, user flows and technical constraints quickly. You take direction verbally and run with it. You use good judgement when the requirements are not complete, which they often will not be. You work fast in Figma and what you hand over is ready to build. You communicate clearly and iterate without drama. Your portfolio shows real UI and UX instinct and the ability to make complicated things simple.
Nice to have
Startup or early stage experience. Comfort working async with limited documentation. Consumer hardware or device setup work.
How this works
Contract, 30 to 40 hours a week, $40 per hour. Remote, anywhere, provided you can reliably work US Central office hours, 8am to 5pm CT. Start as soon as the right person is in place. Time tracked via Hubstaff.
Your portfolio must include at least one working Figma file, not case study images alone.
The person we contract is the person who does the work. Passing the work to someone else will be treated as fraud.
