Project Lead, K-12 Education

SEI is looking for an experienced Project Lead to play a key role in bringing climate and clean energy education to schools across New York. In this role, you’ll lead SEI’s work on the ground in the New York area, build relationships with educators and partners, and help teachers bring this important work into their classrooms.

The New York Board of Regents recently passed a mandate requiring climate education in all K-12 public schools by 2029, creating an exciting opportunity to help shape how this work comes to life in schools. Ultimately, your work will help equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand energy and climate issues in their communities and explore green career pathways, while supporting the educators who make that learning possible.

This position is remote, with the requirement to travel to training sites throughout the New York City and Long Island areas approximately three times per month. Additional in-person work may be required in other parts of the state.

About SEI

SEI is a teams-based, non-profit organization dedicated to building leaders who accelerate climate solutions. Through our Education and Workforce programs, we partner with schools, communities, and businesses to develop inclusive and just sustainability leadership pathways from elementary school to early career. Our team is collaborative, creative, and united by a shared purpose.

The Impact You’ll Make

• Provide key leadership within a large New York-based education initiative within the Energize Schools department.
• Serve as the lead facilitator to provide in-person (in the New York area) and virtual training to educators on climate change, renewable energy, energy efficiency, the energy grid, energy economics and policy, and clean energy careers.
• Serve as a supporting facilitator for clean energy trainings led by partners in other locations around the state.
• Manage logistics for clean energy trainings, including overseeing the training schedule, securing venues, arranging food, recruiting and coordinating guest speakers, and purchasing, transporting, and tracking materials and supplies.
• Grow and maintain external relationships and partnerships with educational entities and partner organizations around New York State.
• Provide post-training instructional support to training participants.
• Develop and maintain training content, curriculum, and external-facing resources. Provide direction on training content, priorities, and processes.
• Develop and administer program processes including but not limited to participant enrollment, attendance tracking, training evaluation, and data tracking.
• Remotely support other Energize Schools projects that may have a different geographic focus (such as in California) or sustainability topic focus (such as air quality).
