Workana is the largest remote work platform for talent in Latin America. Our division focuses on matching exceptional professionals with leading and innovative companies around the globe.
About the client
Our client is an innovative company building and deploying advanced enterprise AI applications on cloud infrastructure. The organization focuses on leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies, secure cloud environments, and modern software architectures to drive high-impact digital solutions.
We are looking for an experienced AI Architect to design and guide the implementation of enterprise AI applications on Microsoft Azure, combining strong software engineering expertise with AI application architecture.
This is a fully remote opportunity for professionals based in Latin America, working closely with an international team in an English-speaking environment.
Role overview
As an AI Architect, you will lead the architectural design and implementation strategy for enterprise-grade AI solutions hosted on Microsoft Azure. You will blend full-stack and backend software engineering expertise with cloud architecture to build scalable, secure systems powered by LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and autonomous AI agents.
You will serve as a key technical leader, working collaboratively with software engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into resilient architectures, establish standards, and guide technical decision-making across distributed teams.
Selection process
The process usually consists of 4 stages and takes on average 4–6 weeks to be completed, depending on eventual additional technical rounds or take-home tests.
- Initial interview with Workana's recruiting team
- Technical interview with the client
- Cultural fit interview with the client's manager
- Final interview with C-level
As Workana has multiple clients, if you pass the first round with Workana's recruiting team, you may also be considered for other relevant opportunities if the initial opportunity does not move forward.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end AI application architectures using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Apps, Blob Storage, Azure Networking, and Azure AI Foundry.
- Architect secure enterprise applications incorporating LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, and workflow orchestration.
- Design backend and full-stack solutions leveraging Python, C#, React, TypeScript, FastAPI, LangChain, and Semantic Kernel.
- Define cloud-native deployment architectures utilizing containers, microservices, REST APIs, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply security-by-design principles, identity and access management, and secure networking practices to safeguard enterprise workloads.
- Evaluate architectural trade-offs to optimize cloud infrastructure, AI inference workloads, application performance, and operational costs.
- Establish architectural standards, evaluate emerging AI technologies, and mentor cross-functional engineering teams through technical decisions.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, data scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders in an international remote environment.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background with proven experience building full-stack and backend systems in C#, Python, and React with TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, including AKS, Azure Networking, and Azure AI Foundry.
- Practical experience working with AI application frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or comparable tools.
- Solid architectural understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agent design, and workflow orchestration.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices architectures, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven ability to design secure, scalable, maintainable, and high-performance distributed systems.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and architectural decision-making skills.
- Fluent English is mandatory (C1 level), with the ability to lead technical discussions, collaborate with international stakeholders, and produce clear architectural documentation.
- Must be based in Latin America.
Benefits
- Compensation in USD
- Fully remote work within Latin America with flexible time schedules
- Career growth with international clients and dynamic projects
- This is a long-term independent contractor agreement with no additional benefits such as paid time off, health insurance, etc.
